Thanks for all you’re doing to clean up our grid! At 24,333 MW, last night had the highest demand of summer so far.

Today and the weekend will remain hot, so expect the power grid to rely on extra fossil fuels. Keep saving energy 5-8pm through 8/8!

Tips to save energy:

  1. Pre-cool. Focus your AC usage on a couple of rooms, and get them nice and cool before 5pm. Then, turn the AC up a few degrees, or turn it off if you can handle it. If you have a programmable thermostat, this is a great time to program it to go up at 5pm.
  2. Use fans wherever possible to compensate for AC, and draw the blinds to help keep rooms cool. If you're planning an outing to the pool or to the air conditioned library or mall, do it during peak hours!
  3. Don’t do the laundry. When you do, wash in cold water.
  4. Don’t run the dishwasher.
  5. If you have an electric car, schedule your charging session for 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Avoid peak times!

We know there have been lots of peak alerts this summer, and your efforts to save energy have been heroic. We appreciate it!

Sincerely,

The team at Green Energy Consumers
