Truth to Power (1)-2-1

Clean energy makes society better. It’s affordable. It’s healthy. It creates good-paying jobs and choices for consumers. And that’s the truth.

Increasingly, we’re seeing misinformation and disinformation about clean energy, originating from the fossil fuel industry. This is dangerous for our health and climate. So we’re speaking out.

Webinar: Debunking Energy Disinformation

We examine the truth about three important energy topics (offshore wind, rising energy costs, and electric vehicles) with an all-star panel from our staff.

Offshore Wind

Disinformation about offshore wind often falsely claims it's excessively expensive, environmentally harmful to marine life (especially whales), and ineffective at producing reliable energy. These narratives are frequently amplified by groups with vested interests in maintaining the status quo of traditional energy sources.

We cannot ignore the long-term economic benefits, rigorous environmental reviews, and its potential to significantly reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.

Energy Costs

Disinformation surrounding rising energy costs often falsely attributes them solely to renewable energy adoption, environmental regulations, or energy efficiency programs. These claims neglect the significant influence of global fossil fuel market volatility, geopolitical events, and infrastructure limitations.

We cannot downplay the long-term price stability and energy independence benefits offered by investing in clean energy and energy efficiency.

Electric Vehicles

Disinformation about electric vehicles frequently insists that they are more polluting than gasoline cars, have impractical range and charging times for everyday use, are significantly more expensive to own and maintain, and that batteries are not sustainable.

We cannot overlook the lifecycle emissions benefits, rapidly improving technology, ownership incentives, and reduced running costs of EVs.
